Celebrate Life Below Water. Eat Blue

5 ways Jacques Cousteau pushed to protect the planet

Nicknamed “Captain Planet,” legendary French explorer, oceanographer, and marine health advocate Jacques-Yves Cousteau has created a legacy for his vast contributions to environmental and ocean activism.

Since the early 1940s Jacques-Yves Cousteau demanded that world leaders recognize their responsibility to preserve future generations’ rights to enjoy the planet. He wrote: “We want the right of all people to decide on what risks they will or will not take, to protect the quality of life for future generations,” Further, he is largely responsible for putting environmental activism on the world agenda and so the National Geographic documentary “Becoming Cousteau” will be highlighted in UK theaters following the COP26 conference.
