An incredibly resilient coral in the Great Barrier Reef offers hope for the future

The Great Barrier Reef’s widest coral, nicknamed Muga dhambi or “big coral” in the local indigenous language, has survived upwards of 430 years and 99+ widespread bleaching events. “ Knowing that these things [like Muga dhambi] exist, and have persisted for a long time, helps to provide a renewed sense of hope for the future.”
