Celebrate Life Below Water. Eat Blue

On Ocean Day at COP26, Blue Leaders Call for Major Ocean Protections

Last week, Ocean Day at COP26 led to a large coalition of Blue Leaders including government leaders and ocean advocates calling for immediate action to protect the world’s vast ocean and “to safeguard the food and economic security of billions of people worldwide who depend on the ocean for food, jobs, and economic and cultural survival.”

An article by the NRDC outlines the two main goals needed to maintain the health of the ocean: The first, to establish a global target for protecting 30% of the global ocean by 2030, otherwise known as #30by30. The second, to create a new United Nations treaty to conserve and protect biodiversity in the ocean “beyond national jurisdiction”
