Celebrate Life Below Water. Eat Blue

Tiny organisms shed big light on ocean nutrients

A team of scientists out of Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences examined phytoplankton to understand how nutrient levels in the ocean shape marine processes and the carbon cycle. The researchers used “flow cytometry,” a technology that examines thousands of cells per second. This research hopes to improve our understanding of ocean health in the face of climate change.
